Although there are some public transport and taxi options available, renting your own car is still the favoured way of experiencing Cape Town for most visitors.

Getting Around

Cape Town Explorer Bus

See the mother city from an open top double decker bus. What a great way to spend your first day in our beautiful city, relax after a long flight and just take in the breath taking sights – it also helps with your orientation.

You can take the whole trip at once which will take about 2 ¼ hours, or you can get off whenever you fancy, to take a stroll around or grab a spot of lunch, and then just hop on again when the next bus comes along. It stops at the Camps Bay beachfront, travels along the entire coast line to the Waterfront, then through the city, past the main museums (SA Museum and Planetarium, Jewish Museum, District 6 Museum), the Castle, up to the Cable Car which goes up Table Mountain, and then back to Camps Bay beachfront.

The buses have a guide on board, conducting commentary in English.

Drive Yourself

All fantastic ways to experience the Cape Peninsula.
