Extreme activities
We are privileged to live in a city that can provide all the following activities on our doorstep. If you're interested in any of the adventurous experiences we've mentioned, give us a call and we can put you in touch with the best people to deal with. We can also arrange transfers or car hire.
Shark Cage Diving
Website: www.white-shark-diving.com
Contact: +27 21 532 0470
In South Africa we are privileged enough to enjoy the first-hand experience of the Great White Shark. Observing and diving with Great White Sharks under the correct conditions and guidance is a wonderful experience. Even ‘anti-shark’ people return from an expedition or diving trip with love, and certainly respect, for this creature.
You can either brave the cage for the most spectacular underwater views of the sharks or remain on the boat and view them from above as they are surface feeders. To go into the cage you don't necessarily need a diving qualification as you can also just go in with a wetsuit and goggles, just make sure you don't forget to come up for air...
Prices range from R1650 p/p including a transfer. Shark Cage diving is done in Gansbaai, about 2hours from Cape Town. Contact the team at Nox Rentals and we'd be happy to organise this on your behalf.
Abseiling
You start off with a 10 minute safety briefing from the highly qualified guides and then you are faced with a 114m abseil from the world famous Table Mountain. This is definitely the most extreme way of seeing Cape Town, dangling from a rope with the city and Camps Bay Beach below you. Once at the bottom it is a short 15 minute walk back to the top. This is one of the must dos if you're looking for an adrenaline experience during your holiday.
Mountain Biking
Experience Cape Town at ground level. Take up the challenge and do a guided ride through the stunning Tokai Forest up on Silvermine Reserve (mountain pass) with its many ups and downs, or take the less strenuous route and do the Table Mountain Double Descent which involves riding along the base of the Mother City's Mountain, traversing the front side and enjoying the spectacular views of the city spanning out beneath you.
Paragliding

Take the plunge and leap off Signal Hill or Lion's Head, Cape Town's iconic natural features.
"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return." - Leonardo da Vinci
You can take paragliding lessons or if you have little time why don't you opt for a tandem paraglide. It is just as extreme and exhilarating as being on your own, but with that added sense of security, knowing you have a trained “pilot” strapped in behind you. From the air you can take in all the sights that make up one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Cape Town.
Prices starting from R1100.
Sky Diving
A 20-minute drive north along the R27, or West Coast road as it's more commonly known, is all it takes for you to be whisked from the Cape Town city centre to a drop zone that boasts one of the best views in the world from altitude.
On a tandem jump, you are strapped to a Tandem Instructor with a special harness that’s attached to a specially designed parachute large enough to support both of you. After only 15 minutes of ground briefing you will enjoy a spectacular 20 minute aircraft ride, experiencing the finest views of the West Coast, Cape Town, Robben Island and Table Mountain.
Then it's action time! Out the door for a 120mph/200kph freefall, falling about 25-30 seconds from 9,000ft or for about 35-40 seconds from 11,000ft. The Tandem Instructor opens the parachute at about 5000ft, and a peaceful 3-4 minute parachute ride to the ground follows.

Quad Biking

By far the most exciting thing on 4 wheels, Quad Biking is a rush like no other. Whether you’re speeding through the obstacle course on the 6 speed “Blaster”, or taking it easy on one of the mellow course with a manual “Breezer”, Quadding will knock your socks off!
The trails twist and wind through sand and bush, offering climbs, descents, technical sections and flat out straights.
Reaching speeds of up to 80 km per hour, find out what your machine's got, or take it easy and enjoy the awesome scenery.
Sand Boarding

The best thing about Sand Boarding is that it is easy to learn and accessible to the absolute beginner - so fear not, adrenaline is just a slide away. You will be taken to the idyllic sand dunes of Atlantis up the west coast of Cape Town, where you will be provided with all of the equipment, full instruction, lunch and refreshment.
Sea Kayaking
This is about exploring the coast and experiencing marine life from a small, yet safe and stable craft. Seeing the whiskers on a seal, hearing a dolphin blow, feeling your skin tingle when a whale surfaces close by is what sea kayaking is all about.
The popular trip from
Mouille Point offers relaxing paddling with spectacular views of Signal Hill, Lions Head and Table Mountain.
Alternatively you can start off from Bakoven next to Camps Bay and enjoy a paddle along Camps Bay beach, Clifton and back.
Contact any of the team at Nox Rentals for more information. info@noxrentals.co.za
Kite Boarding
With an experienced Kiteboarder on the Nox team, we can provide you with all the information you need regarding this fantastic sport. When the infamous South-easter winds blow around the Cape, sunbathers are restricted to the
Clifton beaches. For those interested in something a little more active, why not make full use of the winds and take up the challenge of kiteboarding at Blouberg Dolphin Beach. This is a guaranteed adrenaline rush that will last.
Nox Rentals has a full kit that is available for rental for any of our guests.
Surfing

Take to the waters and master the art of surfing. Be one of the cool surfing dudes or dudettes, and experience the thrill and exhilaration of riding the waves of the big blue. Cape Town's waters are not the warmest, but the waves are incredible, and the sealife is magical. So don a wetsuit and experience a taste of the southern tip of Africa's oceans.
Surf lessons are offered at prices starting at R550 for a half day.
Scuba Diving

Although a little chilly, the ocean waters around Cape Town offer some good diving opportunities. While there is not the diversity of fish seen in tropical waters there are good shipwreck and kelp forest dives.
Into the Blue diving school offers the internationally recognized PADI open water dive course.
Kloofing
Website:
www.cape-xtreme.com
Contact: +27 21 422 4198
Kloofing otherwise known as canyoning, is a uniquely Western Cape experience. It involves getting yourself down a river gorge, one that is fast-flowing, but with too little water for kayaking. Boulder hopping, wading, swimming, climbing, and jumping off cliffs from 3 - 15 metres high is what you will be doing. This is a full day of great fun and extreme adventure over a 17km course which takes place at Suicide Gorge in the Hottentots Mountains just outside of Cape Town.
Make sure you do this with someone who knows what they're doing, as it can be dangerous - as with all adventure sports. We can arrange a transfer and guide, or you can contact Cape Xtreme for more info on the details above.
