Shopping
Shopping in Cape Town can be quite overwhelming as there are so many places to visit and options to buy. From the curios on the side of the roads, to the funky and independent stores in Long Street, to the emporium of stores under one roof at the V&A Waterfront.
We've listed a couple of popular shopping spots, but please ask us if you have any queries and we can guide you in the right direction for great deals that only the locals know.

Here you can find everything from Arts & Craft markets to Boutiques and funky clothing shops – Young Designers Emporium is a must-see for its proudly South African styles and array of clothes. You will also find some wonderful little curios shops and jewellery stores, as well as the Nelson Mandela Gateway centre across the harbour which boasts some fabulous art galleries and houses the Tourist Information Bureau. Every day of the week you will find live African entertainers in the outside areas, singing, performing and making it an unforgettable experience.
If hunger starts creeping in on you, and we know it will, the V&A has a wide variety of restaurants to choose from, where they cater for all tastes and price-ranges, from take-aways to pubs and sports bars, and from café's to bistros to fancy upmarket establishments.

Long Street
Long Street runs up the centre of Cape Town. With an array of unique stores and Boutiques, it is a great place to find some truely African gems. Spend a morning browsing the stores and then pop into one of the equally unique restaurants situated in the side streets or along Long or Bree Street (just 2 streets up from Long).

In the same vicinity as Long Street is Green Market Square. It is one of Cape Towns oldest markets set on a cobbled square between Short and Long Market Streets. Originally used as a commercial trading area for passing ships, it is now a bustling market boasting a wide variety of stalls selling African curios and a range of clothing items – all at fantastic prices. Barter your heart away.
It is open Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 4pm and Saturday mornings.
Curios and Jewellery
There are loads of curios shops all around Cape Town, in major shopping centres as well as all around the main city centre. Long Street, St George’s Mall, Greenmarket Square and the markets at the train station in Adderley Street are your best bets.
You’ll also find unique handcrafted items and township art at many roadside stalls around Cape Town. It’s worth shopping around as the quality and price varies. Most vendors will be happy to barter with you.
